MATOBO HILLS Zimbabwe

African Journey Collection - Matobo Hills

Product description

The Matobo Hills extend over an area of about 1,200 km2 in western Zimbabwe, with a core area of 420km2 protected within the Matobo National Park. The whole area is famous for its remarkable granite outcrops and profusion of rock art dating back some 13,000 years. The region is famous for its incredibly high concentration of breeding eagles, in particular the Verreaux's (African Black) Eagle which has been the subject of close monitoring for several decades. In this design a majestic Sable Antelope bull stands in a grassy clearing in front of the iconic balancing granite boulders; a pair of Verreaux's eagles soars above.
